Random Thoughts: Work
Do not hire a man who does your work for money, but him who does it for love of it.
– Henry David Thoreau
I do love my work, job, trade. Not necessarily interactive marketing, but rather the basic building blocks of my job.
Communication, creativity, sociology and teaching.
An odd way to break down my title, but in a lot of ways, I truly feel those are my core job functions and I thoroughly enjoy them. Regardless if I continue working in the online / interactive field for the rest of my career (spoiler alert: probably not), I want to keep focusing on those core ideas.
To that end, I am proud to announce I have accepted a new challenge and will become the Director of Interactive Marketing and Web Operations for VISIT DENVER (SEO work already underway).
First, I could not accept and take on this new challenge without the unwavering support of my family, specifically Lesley and Mia. I am forever thankful for them. Secondly, it is difficult to leave such a fine organization as the Arizona Office of Tourism. My time at AOT has been thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding, in addition to allowing me the freedom to expand our (AOT) interactive strategy, it has helped me grow further professionally.
Needless to say I am excited about the new opportunity and looking forward to working with the fantastic staff at VISIT DENVER. For the record, my first day is next Monday.
What does that mean for the Travel 2.0 blog?
Aside from a profile update, not much. Mo and I are still planning on writing, commenting and telling you what to do as it relates to travel, technology and marketing.
With that, back to work…
